Job Description

As a Patient Care Associate Surgical Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care needs, participating in the plan of care, and regularly communicating observations to the Clinical Associate. Additionally, you may be required to perform limited laboratory services, such as specimen collection and processing, and maintain a high level of confidentiality and respect when interacting with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed personnel.
  • Assist patients with personal care needs and participate in the development of their care plan.
  • Collect and process test specimens according to established procedures.
  • Document patient care activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate observations and data to the Clinical Associate.
  • Perform limited laboratory services, including patient identification, specimen collection, and instrument maintenance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect when interacting with customers.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the care team to meet patient needs and support team objectives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment in challenging situations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; ability to read, speak, and write English fluently.
  • Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
  • Current BLS-HCP certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
  • Six to nine months of patient care experience or formal education from an accredited school.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and interpersonal skills for effective communication.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided within 30-60 days of hire.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment and manage potential hazards.
  • Physical abilities to perform essential functions, including lifting, standing, and walking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and providing respectful patient care.
