Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

7on/7off; Saturday through Friday. Requires some holidays in order to meet departmental needs.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare is seeking a highly motivated clinical pharmacist to join the Surgery and Perioperative Pharmacy Team in Lexington, Kentucky. This position provides the opportunity to care for a diverse and often high-acuity surgical population across trauma, emergency general surgery, vascular, colorectal, thoracic, oncologic, plastics, urology, otolaryngology, and orthopedic surgery services.

The clinical pharmacist provides decentralized patient care across the continuum of surgical care, including surgical ICUs, progressive care units, acute care floors, and perioperative areas. Responsibilities include emergency response, pharmacokinetic and anticoagulation management, perioperative medication optimization, drug information support, and patient education. Opportunities include committee involvement and precepting of pharmacy residents and students.

Candidates must graduate from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy, complete an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency (or possess equivalent experience), and be eligible for Kentucky pharmacist licensure. Board certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) or Critical Care Pharmacy (BCCCP), or board eligibility, is preferred

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
