Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

Day shift, 7:30am-4pm with some holiday requirements. Hours and days of the week are subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department.

Job Summary

The clinical ambulatory pharmacist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently to provide care for patients who have chronic conditions within the UK Gastroenterology Clinic. The pharmacist will be responsible for answering drug information questions, providing medication related education to patients, completing medication therapy management (MTM) opportunities and optimizing patient medication regimens. In addition, they will provide educational services to pharmacy technicians, students, residents, nurses, pharmacists and physicians through precepting, in-services and/or grand rounds presentations. The pharmacist will also contribute to the scholarly productivity of the organization through clinical research and/or publications. The pharmacist will be expected to have or be willing to obtain certification in the area of practice. The pharmacist will be expected to contribute to the goals of the enterprise and provide documentation of quality of service. This position may be responsible for providing pharmacy services remotely for off-site clinics.

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred
