Portfolio Accounting Analyst

The hourly pay rate for this position is $25 per hour.
The mission of the Investment Operations organization is helping people, help people. We are seeking a detail-oriented, computer-savvy, and collaborative individual to join our Portfolio Accounting team as an Analyst. Our team is responsible for portfolio accounting, audit support, investment reporting and financial reporting for Fidelity Charitable’s managed accounts. In this role, you will support the accurate and timely reconciliation, recording, and reporting of investment portfolio transactions across multiple systems. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency while gaining foundational experience in financial operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced

You will be focused primarily on reconciling positions and transactions in investment portfolios held at third-party custodians.
- Research and resolve position-level discrepancies between accounting system and custodial data
- Update positions/transactions data in portfolio accounting system, as needed
- Researching and identifying contributions into managed accounts
- Creation of XTRAC items to communicate money movement in/out of managed accounts internally
- Review accuracy of transactional records daily, including researching drivers of activity using custodial systems
- Analyze balances and security details between internal systems, facilitating updates as needed
- Identify and recommend operational improvements
- Participate in team meetings, training, and cross-functional initiatives to enhance knowledge and contribute to team goals
- Escalate risk-related concerns and documentation issues promptly
The Expertise and Skills We are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in portfolio accounting and/or position reconciliation in the finance industry
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills
- Experience documenting and improving processes and procedures
- Sophisticated Excel skills (e.g. vlookup and pivot tables), macro writing, VBA
- Some experience training other associates in daily responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail, while operating under tight deadlines
- Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills with excellent follow through
- Experience in Advent APX, or another portfolio accounting system/software, a plus
- Knowledge of brokerage accounts, financial instruments, and financial transactions
- Flexible with overtime as requested (especially December – Giving Season)
