Job Summary
The Principal Accountant & Business Officer provides essential financial leadership and operational support across the Economic Development & Real Estate (ED & RE) portfolio, including Coldstream Research Campus, ASTeCC, Real Properties, Economic Engagement, and the Office of Business Engagement. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Oversight: Managing budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable/receivable, vendor coordination, and financial reporting across ED&RE units.
- KTI Financial Operations: Handling accounting functions for Kentucky Technology Inc. (KTI), including general ledger maintenance, depreciation schedules, and financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Audit & Tax Coordination: Supporting annual audit and tax preparation processes for KTI, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
- Real Estate Financial Administration: Overseeing lease-related financials, rent collection, and compliance across CRC and ASTeCC, and contributing to space planning efforts.
- Investment Reporting: Monitoring financial performance of KTI’s investment portfolio and affiliated companies, and maintaining documentation for equity holdings.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with strong analytical skills and relevant experience in accounting or financial management. The role offers the opportunity to work across a dynamic and innovative portfolio, contributing to the financial health and strategic growth of ED & RE initiatives.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of SAP, Quickbooks, GAAP accounting, business officer duties, CPA certification is a plus.
