Job Title: Principal AI/ML Engineer – FI Investments
About the Role
Join our squad dedicated to driving the growth of the Fidelity Institution (FI) Investment sales and platform business. As a key member of this team, you will play a pivotal role in identifying opportunity leads, developing product recommendations, optimizing coverage and engagement strategies, and driving experimentation for business optimization. Your primary mission will be to research, develop, and implement advanced AI and machine learning methodologies that directly support our business objectives.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with business partners to deeply understand challenges and deliver impactful, data-driven solutions that grow the FI Investment business.
- Apply full stack AI engineering skills to architect and implement end-to-end solutions, using modern backend technologies (Python FastAPI, Node.js) and Snowflake as the database platform.
- Develop intuitive, user-focused interfaces leveraging Streamlit and other UI development tools, as well as modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js).
- Leverage Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Semantic Augment Generation (SAG) techniques to effectively handle both structured and unstructured data sources.
- Implement AI and ML techniques to generate new opportunity leads, enhance product recommendations, and optimize engagement and business strategies.
- Set and refine strategies for sales coverage, client engagement, and business process optimization through experimentation and data analysis.
- Research, develop, and implement novel analytical and machine learning approaches tailored to the unique needs of the FI platform.

- Drive and support a culture of continuous learning and innovation, staying up-to-date with the latest in data science, ML, and AI trends.
Your Expertise
- Strong background in data science, including statistics, time series, natural language processing, classical ML, and deep learning.
- Demonstrated expertise in full stack AI engineering, with hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered applications.
- Experience applying RAG and SAG methods to integrate structured and unstructured data into machine learning workflows.
- Experience developing user interfaces with Streamlit and other UI development tools, as well as frontend frameworks like React and Next.js.
- Proven track record in the end-to-end data science lifecycle: data exploration, cleaning, feature engineering, model development, validation, and deployment.
- Proficiency with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face, scikit-learn) and large language models (LLMs).
- Deep understanding of backend technologies (FastAPI, Node.js) and strong experience working with Snowflake as a primary database.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a product-focused mindset and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Aptitude for innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial technology (fintech) or investment domain.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science.
- 10+ years of experience in data science and software engineering.

The base salary range for this position is $107,000-$181,000 per year.Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
