Principal Software Engineer

The Role

As a Principal Software Engineer on the Orchestration team, you’ll get the opportunity to develop your skills and collaborate with engineers across Fidelity in a fun and dynamic environment. You will work closely with technical leaders and Architects to build reliable service that manages all of Fidelity’s crypto processes, utilizing modern software development practices. As a senior member of the team, you will lead a team of software engineers and mentor them on the best practices for Software development.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Batchelor's degree in computer science or related field required
  • 10+ years’ experience in a Software engineering
  • 8+ years’ experience building REST based micro services in Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience leading a team
  • Proficient in designing micro services by applying software design patterns, twelve-factor app methodology, and SOLID principles
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
  • Experience with asynchronous workers and resilient messaging services such as Kafka, SNS and SQS
  • Proficient in databases and SQL
  • Unit and integration test automation using Junit and Mockito
  • Ability to build reliable software that can withstand unreliable environments
  • Possess critical thinking skills to build end-to-end solutions
  • Passionate and committed to learning new things and developing with the latest technologies and frameworks
  • Work well in both a small agile team and independently, having a strong user focus
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at any given time
  • Participate in engineering practices such as code and design reviews, environment strategy, and build and deployment pipelines
  • Strong organization skills and attention to details
  • Prior experience or understanding of crypto currencies or blockchain is a plus

Within

Fidelity Digital Assets®, the Orchestration Team is responsible for the backend service that systematically runs our processes such as deposits or withdraws. The team closely works with the operations team to ensure we meet our client’s needs.
