The Role

The Fidelity Institutional Wealth Management Services group is seeking a highly experienced Senior to Principal level Software Engineer – Production Support to lead efforts in maintaining and enhancing the stability, performance, and reliability of IWMS client platforms and offerings.

In this role, you will apply your deep technical expertise across distributed and mainframe systems to ensure seamless operations of mission-critical applications that support our intermediary (clearing and custody) business. You will work closely with development, infrastructure, and business teams to drive incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in evolving our support practices, improving observability, and mentoring engineers in production excellence.

The Team

The IWMS Platform & Technology domain is part of the Fund and Brokerage Operations & Technology division, supporting Fidelity’s Institutional business units through robust and scalable technology platforms. Our team is committed to delivering reliable and high-performing solutions for our clients. We support a wide range of distributed and mainframe applications across critical product areas, including Intermediary Billing, Transmissions, WealthScape services, Cash Management, Retirement, Generic Rules Engine (GRE), Managed-Accounts, and Client Implementations. Our focus is on maintaining operational excellence, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring seamless client experiences across these platforms

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise application support, production engineering, or site reliability engineering
  • Strong expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining applications built with Java/JEE, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL, Python, and Linux
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including services like EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, and container orchestration (EKS/ECS)
  • Experience with Kafka Listener for event-driven architecture and message stream processing
  • Hands-on experience with data movement and ETL tools such as Informatica, including job monitoring, failure recovery, and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with observability and logging tools such as Datadog, Splunk, ELK Stack
  • Hands-on experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and automation of support tasks
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
  • Terraform experience preferred, CloudFormation Templates
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional incident response and postmortem reviews
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and drive operational best practices across teams
  • Proficient in Agile methodologies and DevOps principles

  • Contribute to support readiness for new releases and platform changes
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and client experience
