Job Description:

The Program Associate will provide grants management, operations, and communications support across the Fidelity Charitable Catalyst Fund. Your prior experience at a grantmaking or nonprofit organization, love of organizing, synthesizing information, details, and preparation will help you thrive in this role.

Note: Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.

The Role

The Catalyst Fund is a grantmaking program of Fidelity Charitable, led by our Board of Trustees and separate from Fidelity Charitable’s donor-advised fund program. The Fund makes grants to intermediaries that inspire donors to give more to promising nonprofits and elevate nonprofits to build their muscle and confidence to find and retain donors. The Catalyst Fund has three grantmaking portfolios and is managed by an Executive Director and Director of Local Impact. The Program Associate will:

  • Facilitate and monitor completion of grant proposals, letters, payments, and reports, providing excellent customer service to grantees while following grant processes
  • Complete basic grants diligence, coding, and analysis of grants
  • Draft grant summaries and recommendations in partnership with Catalyst Fund staff
  • Coordinate, prepare, and manage follow-up for Catalyst Fund staff for meetings with grantees, other funders, and internal team members
  • Lead planning, logistics, and drafting of talking points for all-grantee meetings, site visits, and speaking engagements for the Catalyst Fund’s staff
  • Draft grantee communications, newsletters, and invitations for donors to grantee offerings
  • Keep teams across Fidelity Charitable informed of Catalyst Fund updates
  • Partner with the Marketing team to coordinate grantee and staff external engagement
  • Support Executive Director with complex scheduling and expense reports
  • Partner with the Executive Director on team meetings, process improvements, board meetings and communications, and special projects

The Expertise & Skills You Bring

  • 5+ years of program coordination, project management, operations, or administrative experience, with a preference for experience in a philanthropic or nonprofit organization
  • Exceptionally organized with great attention to detail
  • Outstanding analysis, research, and writing skills including ability to produce succinct and informative communications for executives (both oral and written)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies to build trust and achieve common goals, both internally and externally
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work calmly, and maintain good judgment in a fast-paced environment; must be comfortable working through ambiguity
  • Confident and diplomatic oral communicator with exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Skilled in proactively handling multiple assignments simultaneously with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines to deliver high quality results
  • Highly proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with grants management systems (e.g. Fluxx) preferred or demonstrated technological savvy and ability to quickly understand new software

The Catalyst Fund team is led by an Executive Director who works closely with the Fidelity Charitable board of trustees and senior staff on strategy, impact assessment, finances, and external relations. The Executive Director and Director of Local Impact develop the pipeline of grantees and are responsible for managing grantee relationships and performance. The team represents Fidelity Charitable at many philanthropic and nonprofit convenings. The team is a part of the Compliance & Administration department at Fidelity Charitable.

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
