Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Program Coordinatorposition in Arlington, VA, Maryland, and the surrounding areas.

The Program Coordinator’s primary responsibility is assisting with the execution of assigned programs, community events and fundraising. This position will manage volunteers, provide administrative support to the field office— including answering correspondence, accounting, and database management.

Desired candidates will have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience performing social services responsibilities and program delivery in the non-profit sector preferred.
  • Experience with project management, event planning, and/or operations preferred.
  • Experience with social media and communication tools preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Typical duties include:

  • Plan, coordinate, and ensure execution of all assigned Field Office program activities and special events.
  • Facilitate recruitment, engagement, retention, and recognition of volunteers. Organize and maintain volunteer program. Coordinate volunteer efforts to facilitate organizational needs and mission.
  • Research funding opportunities, compiles donor information and assists with grant writing and applications to gain sponsorship and donations. Cultivate assigned donors and create new donor relationships.
  • Research resources in the area and coordinates efforts with case workers to ensure local support is provided to clients for emergency assistance.
  • Schedule regular visits to VA hospitals, guard units and similar agencies to conduct community presentations regarding available services.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining databases of all corporate relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups, organizations, and military leadership.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all in-kind goods, inventory, distribution, and current needs.
  • Support internal and external communications including but not limited to crafting and distributing content for newsletters, email, phone calls, text messaging, and social media.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Details:

This will be a virtual position; however, event support would require some travel to Arlington, VA, Maryland, and surrounding areas.

General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Ability to drive a vehicle no larger than a 10’ box truck to facilitate moving items as needed. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
