Job Summary
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s, Food Connection unit seeks a candidate with excellent communication, research, and project management skills to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
The Value Chain Coordinator will work to cultivate relationships with farmers, processors, distributors, and buyers in Eastern Kentucky with the goal of adding to farm income and getting more Kentucky grown food into more places. The position plays a key role in collaborating with the Central + West KY VCCs as well as existing partners and organizations to build capacity for local food systems development efforts along the supply chain in Kentucky. Additional duties include working across commodities (produce, protein, small grains, dairy, value-added products, etc.) and will regularly convene meetings and/or site visits with farmers, processors, distributors, and buyers to continue to build sustainable and equitable local food value chains in Kentucky.
As a key member of the Food Connection Team, this role offers the opportunity to serve farmers, food producers, students, and consumers by cultivating creative strategies and partnerships to support a vibrant, healthy, and equitable local food economy.
