Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Program Manager position in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New York.

The Program Manager’s primary responsibility is managing programs, development and community events for designated Operation Homefront Region covering multiple states. This position plans, coordinates, organizes and oversees program implementation and evaluation, and creates and coordinates outreach events to military families and units.

Desired candidates will have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Project Management, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in non-profit event coordination and with social programs.
  • Experience with military families and programs preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers in the upper section
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Acceptable MVR (annual)

Typical duties include:

  • Oversees and supports the coordination and execution of assigned programs, community events, fundraising and management of volunteers for the Region.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating and facilitating all program related special events and activities benefiting client services in the community.
  • Evaluates and develops local programs to meet the needs of the local military community.
  • Manages the procurement and distribution of in-kind inventory, ensuring items are available to meet local needs and documents are provided to the Region in a timely manner.
  • Ensures accurate record keeping for all programs and fundraising in accordance with Operation Homefront’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develops and grows community relationships with clients, service providers, volunteers, military organizations or representatives, and all posts, armories, and bases in the assigned area.
  • Research funding opportunities, compiles donor information and assists with grant writing and applications to gain sponsorship and donations in support of regional programs.
  • Cultivates assigned pipeline of donors and creates new donor relationships in support of regional programs
  • Schedules visits to military hospitals, VA hospitals, military bases, posts and armories to share information about the services available.
  • In partnership with the program coordinators, recruits and maintains a pool of volunteers for program needs, oversees the posting of volunteer opportunities, the recording of volunteer hours, and filling of volunteer opportunities.
  • Conducts presentations to service organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Details:

This will be a hybrid position with the ability to perform duties from a home office if desired; however, event support and periodic office meetings would require some travel to the surrounding areas.

General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events to include overnight travel at least 40% of the time. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.

Salary range

  • $55,000 - $65,000
