Job Description

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through 6/30/27. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding and department & university priorities.

This Quality Assurance Tester is part of the my.Harvard Portal Optimization Phase II ITCRB project. The need is for a manual software tester to join the team and perform the functions described below. Independently perform work at an advanced level in support of software quality assurance and manual testing. Write and execute test scripts that align with features being delivered by the development team. Report defects to the development team for triage and resolution.

  • Work within a team on all phases of software testing for the my.harvard Portal Optimization project.
  • Participate in daily project meetings to understand critical functions that need testing, such as enrollment, course search, advising, grades, activity guides, student financials, financial aid, and more.
  • Collaborate with the product team to document test scripts based on functional and technical business requirements/user stories.
  • Participate in the definition of software testing best practices.
  • Perform testing as software is migrated across environments to ensure quality delivery.
  • Perform regression testing of multiple features after major releases.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.

  • 2+ years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience

  • Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and equipment
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

Work Format Details

This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

Salary Grade and Ranges
