Job Description
The Perioperative Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and support to patients and their families throughout the three phases of the surgical journey. This position is integral to the healthcare team, providing physicians with the necessary equipment, supplies, and support in the Pre-Op and PACU areas. As a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to organizational goals by offering quality customer service, actively participating in performance improvement initiatives, and fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient care and family support throughout the surgical experience.
- Assist physicians with equipment, supplies, and support in Pre-Op and PACU areas.
- Ensure a smooth and safe surgical process for patients.
- Offer quality customer service and maintain a patient-centric approach.
- Engage in performance improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe surgical environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Adapt to changes in daily schedules and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required.
- BLS certification is mandatory upon hire or transfer.
- ACLS and PALS certifications are required, as designated by specialty.
- Prior Ambulatory Surgery Center experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred at the time of hire, with training provided for incumbents.
- Ability to effectively communicate and adjust to changes in daily activities.
- Stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, and walk short distances quickly.
- Exposure to potential hazards and risks in a hospital environment, including bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
- Work in a busy, noisy environment with frequent interruptions and re-evaluation of priorities.
