DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and explaining procedures.
- Assist physicians and nurses during medical examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries.
- Administer injections, medications, and vaccines under the supervision of healthcare providers.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and collect specimens for analysis.
- Handle basic wound care, dressing changes, and removing sutures.
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, ensuring they are comfortable.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient education on treatments, procedures, medications, and post-care instructions.
- Assist with patient follow-up, including scheduling appointments and providing test results as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Manage patient records by accurately documenting medical histories, examination results, and treatments in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Schedule appointments, answer phones, and handle patient inquiries.
- Assist with billing, insurance claims, and maintaining patient accounts.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring all necessary items are available for use.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Sanitize and sterilize medical instruments and equipment before and after use. • Follow infection control policies and procedures. • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as reasonably requested by your manager..
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer software. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant or in a healthcare setting.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education in medical assisting preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
