A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Purpose of PositionSummary: Plans, directs and manages accounting activities within the Grants Management Accounting.Essential FunctionsCompiles and analyzes financial information to review entries to award accounts in the University's general ledger.Reviews post award activity to include expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, receivables, appointments, student notice of awards, and any other document with award funding for approval and allowability.Research overdrafts on awards and works closely with various university departments to resolve.Initiates and prepares financial queries to review award transactions for closeout processes once an award ends.Research any award related issues and prepare financial workbooks that explain findings. Recommends solutions based on findings, allowability on awards, university policy/process and works with departments until finalized.Determines proper handing of financial transactions based on allowability of award and university policy/process.Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective actions and procedures.Provides training to campus as needed on awards transactions processes.Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and University policy and procedures.Assists with various special projects as needed, such as the testing of institutional software systems.Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems, to include Peoplesoft, ORSP tools, GART, Milestones Database and Subcontract Database.Complies with all State and University policies.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
