A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Purpose of PositionSummary: Plans, coordinates, and directs the campus environmental compliance program that includes underground storage tanks, stormwater, air permits and other environmental health programs for the university. The individual will work with campus researchers, academic and administrative departments, and external regulators to ensure compliance. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:Assists in the development of compliance programs in stormwater, underground storage tanks, air permits, and other environmental programs for the university.Implements the environmental compliance programs for the university by conducting monitoring activities, audits, and assessing risk to mitigate environmental impact of the Campus operations.Creates and implements policies and procedures in support of a comprehensive environmental compliance program.Responsible for identifying and assessing environmental risks associated with operations, recommends solutions and measures to mitigate risk.Responsible for compiling and submitting reports and documentation to regulatory agencies and maintaining accurate records.Conducts training classes to educate employees on environmental regulations and best practices.Oversees and manages existing environmental permits and prepares and submits new permit applications.Conducts inspection of stormwater inlets and conveyances, issues work orders and creates inspection reports.Works with camps stakeholders to monitor and audit the performance of the underground storage tanks.Works to stay current with changes to federal and state environmental regulations and legislation.Responsible for developing and maintaining the comprehensive campus spill prevention, control and countermeasures plan.The position requires individual to maintain training to include HAZWOPER, DOT, RCRA and other department required training.Assists campus stakeholders with review of asbestos surveys and abatement plans for the university.Coordinates calibration of monitoring and safety equipment.Conducts indoor air-quality evaluations of offices and buildings. Prepares evaluation reports for management review and presents findings to campus stakeholders.Assists the Assistant Director of Environmental Health and Safety with promoting awareness of radiation safety, laser safety and x-ray producing equipment safety.Assists the Assistant Director with inspection and inventory of campus radioactive materials, lasers, and x-ray producing equipment.Is part of the campus incident response team. Individual will be expected to be on a rotating on-call schedule for after business hours incidents.
