Scientist, Discovery Biotherapeutics, Selection Technologies

Summary

The Discovery Biotherapeutics team is dedicated to the discovery and advancement of novel biotherapeutic candidates, leveraging cutting-edge science and innovative technologies to drive the drug discovery pipeline. We seek to understand the structure and function of complex molecules such as bispecific antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, and endogenous proteins in order to optimize their utility as therapeutic agents. Our team collaborates across disciplines to advance biologic programs in Oncology, Immunology, Cardiovascular, and Neuroscience with the ultimate goal of bringing new groundbreaking therapies to patients. The Selection Technologies team, a key component of Discovery Biotherapeutics, harnesses the power of in vitro display technologies such as yeast and mRNA display to discover binders against therapeutic targets of interest. We collaborate closely with computational biologists embedded directly in the Discovery Biotherapeutics organization to apply AI/ML predictions to synthetic library design, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis, and therapeutic candidate prioritization.

Position Responsibilities

In the role as a Scientist within Discovery Biotherapeutics, Selection Technologies, the ideal candidate will:

  • Conduct selections using in vitro display platforms such as yeast and mRNA display to discover binders against targets of interest.
  • Independently analyze experimental data and plan next steps.
  • Analyze antibody sequence data and advance promising candidates to high-throughput production.
  • Collaborate with computational and data science colleagues to leverage AI/ML and other computational methods applied to biotherapeutic discovery.
  • Perform technology innovation experiments including in vitro display platform enhancements and incorporation of cutting-edge techniques such as synthetic libraries designed using AI/ML.
  • Present own work within and outside their immediate team, with the opportunity to represent the team in cross-functional programs and initiatives.

Experience - Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5+ years of academic and / or industry experience

Or

  • Master’s Degree
    • 3+ years of academic and / or industry experience

Or

  • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
    • No experience necessary

Experience - Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing in vitro display experiments, including yeast, mRNA, phage, and/or mammalian display platforms.
  • Experience analyzing antibody variable region sequences.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience analyzing antibody variable region sequence data from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a plus.
  • History of working with multiple antibody formats, including Fab, scFv, and single domain/VHH is a plus.
  • Experience serving on cross-functional therapeutic program teams is a plus.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $128,420 - $155,600, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
