Sitting at computer for extended periods of time, repetitive motion, and general
lab duties. Lifting, pushing, pulling of objects up to 50 lbs.

Shift

Days; Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Weekend or holiday
work may be required in rare instances.

Job Summary

The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) seeks a team leader for their Scientist II position.


VDL develops and applies state-of-the-art diagnostic methodology to improve animal health and marketability, to protect the public health and to assist in the preservation of the human-animal bond through the principles of One Health.


This position is a vital member of the team serving as the Serology and Virology Section Head, whose job it is to assure that testing is completed and reported to clients in an accurate and timely manner, while adhering to recognized medical laboratory safety practices. This allows the laboratory to fulfill its goal of providing a high quality of service to veterinarians, regulatory officials, agribusinesses, producers, and animal owners. This position also oversees compliance with safety policies and practices for the Serology and Virology Section in accordance with UK Environmental Health & Safety guidelines and regulations.

This position is located at the Coldstream Research Campus off Newtown Pike (

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Clinical laboratory diagnostic testing techniques, applied serologic and virologic methods, MS office. Familiarity with lab quality management and laboratory information systems.
