Job Summary

The Scientist III will play a key role in advancing preclinical, clinical and translational research programs focused on spinal cord injury (SCI).

This position involves independently designing, performing, and managing day-to-day experimental procedures in rodent models and in studies involving individuals with SCI, while maintaining rigorous documentation and data integrity.

The Scientist III will develop and implement innovative experimental techniques, analyze complex datasets, generate high-quality figures, and contribute to manuscript and grant preparation. The role also includes preparing and submitting ethics applications (IACUC and IRB), ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic project planning.

Additionally, the Scientist III will mentor and train postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing laboratory environment and contributing to outreach and scientific communication initiatives.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Skilled in presentations, public speaking, and grant writing, with strong abilities in task prioritization, effective delegation, and team management. Experienced in planning, executing, and analyzing experiments.

Preferred Education/Experience

Doctoral degree in a science-related field with extensive independent research experience in metabolic, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative disorders, and brain health and aging. Skilled in preclinical and translational research, with a strong record of publications and grant contributions.
