Physical Requirements

Moving and lifting object from floor to above shoulders upto 25 pounds. Standing and sitting at computer terminals and laboratory bench completing repetitive tasks for extensive periods of time. Continuous working with materials requiring personal protective equipment in accord with EH&S policy.

Shift

Primarily Days Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, some Evenings, Weekends are possible

Job Summary

The Department of Physiology has an opening for a very senior level experienced Scientist III. The laboratory to which this position will support is very diverse and works collaboratively on the biology of neural cells. Scientific experimentation will be the primary

responsibility. This requires experimental design, preparing samples and train personnel for projects with the end result being publications and grant applications. Assistance with writing protocols, manuscripts, and grant applications, as well as review of literature

to identify protocols necessary for edge of science breakthroughs will be necessary.

The position requires experience managing research laboratories, teaching undergraduate and graduate students and guide postdoctoral fellows.

The position requires extensive experience with laboratory processes including, but not limited to, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, molecular biology techniques, western botting, ELISA, and tissue processing and dissection techniques.
