The Director/Senior Director of Platform Engineering and Network Services reports to the Vice President of Technology Operations.
This role will interact with all other Technology Operations teams including Data Management, Systems Engineering, the project management org and all development teams.

Job Responsibilities:
- Ongoing process improvement and automation of production releases.
- Implementation and support of our internal web applications (80+ applications across 170 servers)
- Manage, prioritize, and set objectives for a team of 12+ individual contributors and managed service providers and contractors
- Work closely with the development and operations teams to meet deployment timelines and objectives.
- Partners with and integrate across other areas of the organization, resolving conflicts and managing competing priorities, to provide a complete solution.
- Drives medium-term (e.g., 1-3 years) strategic and policy decisions impacting the organization. Counsels and advises leadership on relevant technology strategies and policies.
- Proactively makes recommendations to business partners regarding the development of new services, projects and goals that further support and strengthen the capabilities of the business unit and AutoNation.
- Is responsible for all performance-related activities, including preparing and delivering performance reviews and any disciplinary recommendations.
- Collaborates with senior Technology colleagues and business leadership on investments in new technology directions.
- Directs multiple projects, usually through subordinate project managers.
- Ownership of proactive monitoring and issue response
- Develop an in-depth technical knowledge of organizational process and business requirements while overseeing
- Ensure team keeps documentation up to date and team is cross-trained across various skillsets to avoid single points of failure.
- Develop, implement, and maintain logging and monitoring strategies to ensure the stability of our enterprise systems.
- Lead a team of logging and monitoring engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Design and implement alerting mechanisms to detect and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
- Manage and optimize logging and monitoring tools and technologies to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of logging and monitoring processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to logging and monitoring to enhance our capabilities.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of monitoring activities.
- Develop and oversee enterprise monitoring governance standards to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide training to teams to enhance their proficiency in utilizing monitoring tools effectively.
- Collaborate in the problem management process to propose solutions for enhancing monitoring practices.
Qualifications:
- Typical candidate will possess 14+ years of relevant experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent. Advanced degree highly desirable. Previous management experience highly desirable.
- Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft IIS and Apache required.
- Strong Change Management discipline.
- Extensive experience in both AWS and Microsoft Azure Cloud Environments
- Experience in IAAS, PAAS, Microservices and Containers
- Demonstrated experience in the automation of development through stage and into production using process and systems
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an enterprise monitoring strategy
- Ability to address and manage conflict resolution.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The base salary range for this position in New York is $190,005 to $275,230 per year. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a bonus with a target of 25% of base salary. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and location.
