Senior Software Engineer

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us!

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role within Operations Technology. You will be encouraged to gain understanding of all the components of our web applications and will work with the members of the squad to deliver outstanding customer experience solutions. You will work closely with the Squad Lead, Scrum Master, Developers, Quality Assurance, and Architects to craft, build, test, and deliver the features that make up Fidelity’s Digital experiences.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 6+ years of full‑stack development experience,
    OR
    Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.

  • Proven ability to architect, build, and deploy resilient, high‑quality software systems at scale.

  • Demonstrated experience decomposing complex business challenges into efficient, maintainable technical solutions.

Frontend Development

  • Deep expertise in at least one modern UI framework (e.g., Angular) with exposure to multiple frameworks.

  • Strong proficiency with client-side language, library and framework: JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, Node, HTML/CSS, RxJS, and NPM.

  • Experience creating scalable, user‑centered interfaces and delivering across the full UI lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, testing, debugging, and release.

  • Hands‑on experience with Monorepo / Micro‑frontend architectures using Nx.

Backend & API Development

  • Proficiency with backend and mid‑tier technologies including Java EE, Spring Boot / Spring MVC, Apache Tomcat, Maven, Logback, and SLF4J.

  • Strong understanding of RESTful API standards and best practices.

  • Experience with Node.js and the broader npm package ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with Java-based frameworks for API development (a plus).

Cloud, DevOps & Containerization

  • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including application deployment, monitoring, and management through the AWS Console.

  • Skilled in AWS cloud-native services with a focus on database technologies such as Amazon Aurora, as well as integrating SQL workloads into AWS architectures.

  • Expertise in Docker containerization and containerized deployment workflows.

  • AWS certifications (preferred).

  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and modern testing frameworks.

Database Development

  • Extensive experience with both SQL and NoSQL database design, optimization, and development.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud database platforms, particularly Amazon Aurora (MySQL/PostgreSQL-compatible), including clustering, performance tuning, and high‑availability configurations.

Scripting & Tooling

  • Experience with scripting tools and languages such as Groovy.

Collaboration, Delivery & Ownership

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality, production‑ready features rapidly, with release cycles as frequent as bi‑weekly or daily.

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to collaborate with distributed teams across geographic locations.

  • Strong facilitation, influencing, and negotiation skills to drive alignment.

  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical partners and product stakeholders.

  • Ownership mindset with a focus on long‑term maintainability, scalability, and user experience.

Your experience with the following will be a plus:

  • DevOps concepts governing SCM, continuous integration, monitoring, and deployment processes

  • Enterprise application architecture patterns and orchestration frameworks such as Apache Camel

  • Client-side unit testing frameworks and test runners like Jasmine and Karma

  • The W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and their implementation
