Proximo Spirits, Inc., is a $1B+ American multinational alcoholic beverage company, with its headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey. It is a major distributor of tequila and other spirits, best known for Jose Cuervo, the world's largest-selling tequila brand. With over three hundred employees, the Lawrenceburg, Indiana facility (Proximo Distillers Indiana - PDI) bottles about nine million cases a year for North America.

This position is in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and on site 3 days per week.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Reporting to the Director Finance Operations based in Jersey City, New Jersey, this role leads the cost accounting, cost of sales, and capital expenditure analysis to support financial planning and operational decisions across multiple manufacturing sites. This important work ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and compliance with corporate standards. As a key financial partner to Operations, this position leverages advanced analytics and reporting to drive efficiency and strategic initiatives. The role manages cost control systems, interprets audits, provides actionable insights to senior leadership, and champions automation and process improvements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role will also perform the following:

Leadership & Strategic Oversight

  • Manage and mentor the cost accounting team, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Translate strategic plans into actionable cost analysis and planning.
  • Partner with the Director of Finance Operations leadership to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with business goals.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

  • Oversee accounting for raw materials, finished goods, and aging inventory.
  • Ensure accurate standard cost and maintenance for all SKUs in SAP.
  • Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor yield losses and variances, collaborating with Operations to minimize risks.

Advanced Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards and reporting tools using advanced data analytics and visualization techniques.
  • Analyze manufacturing results, variances, and trends to provide actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Design and implement data models for cost forecasting, scenario analysis, and performance tracking.
  • Interpret cost variances and advise senior management on corrective actions and efficiency improvements.
  • Provide financial oversight and reporting for capital expenditure projects, ensuring compliance with budget and corporate policies.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive automation and process improvements in cost accounting workflows.
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to enhance SAP functionality and ensure data integrity.
  • Implement best practices for data governance and master data management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Procurement, Logistics, Marketing, and product development teams on new product costing.
  • Support compliance and tax teams and accurate cost data for regulatory filings.
  • Manage relationships with external and internal auditors, contract manufacturers, and third-party logistics providers.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required.
  • 7+ years of experience in cost accounting or related areas, preferably in the food/beverage industry.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to leverage internal and external data sources to generate actionable insights for executive decision-making.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and leading digital finance initiatives to enhance automation and data integrity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
