The Enterprise Ways of Working team (EWOW) within Technology Business Enablement (TBE) is seeking a Senior Manager to support operational change management and the TBM (Technology Business Management) Tooling Transformation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of how American Express builds digital products and delivers value to our customers by optimizing our ways of working (WoW) to enable a more dynamic investment planning approach that is tailored to different types of Tech work at American Express
This Change Management & Communications role will refine and implement the end-to-end change strategy with a strong emphasis on communications and lead our training effort as we deliver new modernized tools to 40,000 colleagues at American Express. The successful candidate will establish structured systems for stakeholder engagement, communication distribution, and adoption measurement to ensure scalable and sustainable rollout across Technology and Finance, embedding durable, scalable ways of working that improve financial transparency and decision-making. This is a highly visible transformation role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a complex, matrixed environment.
The Senior Manager in this role will be a strategic partner in driving the end-to-end strategy for the rollout of modernized tools across the enterprise and ensure successful integration and adoption of the WoW tooling and operating model. Specifically, this colleague will:
• Lead End-to-End Change Management: Execute the TBM Tooling Transformation change strategy, including stakeholder and impact assessments, adoption risk mitigation, KPI tracking, feedback loops, and sustainment planning to drive lasting behavioral change.
• Design & Execute Strategic Communications: Design and deliver a structured communications plan aligned to transformation milestones, including audience segmentation, compelling business-value messaging, executive-ready materials, channel optimization, distribution governance, and effectiveness measurement.
• Drive Role-Based Training & Enablement: Refine and oversee a comprehensive training strategy in partnership with SMEs and vendors, creating user-centered learning materials, managing rollout logistics, aligning to key milestones, and measuring effectiveness to ensure strong adoption.
• Integrate Change into the Operating Model: Embed adoption principles into the broader Technology Business Enablement framework, partnering across product, finance, engineering, and transformation teams to align tooling, processes, and ways of working.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 6-8+ years of experience in change management, transformation, enterprise communications or a related field.
• Proven experience supporting large-scale change initiatives within technology or finance organizations, within American Express or in other organizations in internal consulting or management consulting-based roles.
• Strong ability to synthesize Technology Business Management process and tooling related work and relate to end-user experiences
• Demonstrated expertise in structured change methodologies (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR, or equivalent).
• Exceptionally strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Experience designing communication strategies, audience segmentation frameworks, and distribution governance models
• Strong written communication and executive storytelling skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Technology Business Management (TBM) frameworks or financial transparency initiatives.
• Background in technology finance, FinOps, or enterprise tooling implementations.
• Experience working in global, cross-functional environments.
• Familiarity with agile operating models and product-centric delivery environments.
• Experience defining and measuring change management success criteria and behaviors.
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
