Job Description

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is dedicated to the success of businesses big and small with the vision to be essential to our customers’ businesses every day. As part of GCS, the SBS BD & Partnerships team sits within our Small Business Card & Loyalty team in the Small Business Card Product Management and Banking. The SBS BD&P team is responsible for managing Card partner benefits and external relationships with strategic B2B partners (e.g., Dell, Adobe, Indeed, OpenAI), developing the strategy for new partnership opportunities, leading business development for new partner benefits that are unique to Small Business, and overseeing delivery to our customers.

The Senior Manager responsibilities will span that of business development and partnership management to drive partner-funded value on GCS core card products.

Responsibilities

  • Business development of new value – source partnership opportunities in line with product strategy; partner with Finance to create internal and external cost benefit analyses, develop pitch materials and drive negotiations; partner across key stakeholders to launch new benefits.
  • Partnership management – ensure all contractual commitments are delivered from both Amex and the partner including, but not limited to, reporting, invoicing and marketing
  • Benefit management – ensure operational excellence across benefit customer experience, fulfillment and reporting; manage all internal reporting & insights; partner with Card Product and Marketing to ensure to drive benefit awareness and engagement
  • Benefit strategy – use strategic findings, customer & competitive research, and Product strategy roadmap to inform renewals and long-term benefit strategies
  • External and cross-functional relationship management – build and strengthen relationships with key external partners; develop relationships with critical internal partners including but not limited to Card Product, Consumer Business Development, Analytics, Finance, GMNS, and SP

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate has experience in both business development and ongoing partner management
  • Strong analytical, business & financial skills with ability to develop and evaluate revenue models plus navigate opportunities/pivots through complex negotiations

  • Exceptional partner (internal and external) relationship/negotiation/influencing skills and a proven ability to get results through collaboration with internal partners

  • Ability to use data to analyze results and identify trends, create presentations that tell a compelling performance story through data and drive informed business decisions

  • Experience in handling complex contracts and commitments with external partners

  • Ability to build relationships, influence, and partner effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively across a variety of audiences and influence business decisions at all levels
