Job Description

The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for the design, development, administration, and strategic enhancement of Salesforce and other integrated business systems. This role plays a vital part in delivering scalable, efficient, and high-impact solutions across the Salesforce platform, including but not limited to Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Marketing Cloud. The developer collaborates closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into innovative and sustainable solutions that drive organizational success.

This role plays a key role in the configuration, optimization, and continued evolution of Salesforce systems for HKS, including Marketing Cloud, Pardot and Experience Cloud. This position is responsible for system enhancements, configuration management, testing and deployments, end-user training, reporting and dashboard creation, and maintaining data integrity. The Senior Salesforce Developer also serves as a primary contact for end users and helps design and verify solutions aligned with business goals.

Position responsibilities:

The Senior Salesforce Developer is involved in relevant IT projects, leading technical aspects, managing deployments, and supporting integration across systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Salesforce.com and Marketing Cloud applications including configuration, enhancements, and deployments.
  • Lead change management efforts, including version control, release planning, and coordinating deployments.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, propose solutions, and implement enhancements.
  • Provide end-user support and deliver training to improve Salesforce adoption.
  • Maintain user roles, profiles, access settings, security, and sharing rules.
  • Create and manage custom objects, workflows, validation rules, flows, and approval processes.
  • Lead integration efforts with third-party systems, collaborating with HKSIT AppsDEV and Central IT as needed.
  • Monitor Salesforce releases to identify enhancements and ensure backward compatibility.
  • Create department-wide and ad-hoc reports and dashboards based on evolving business needs.
  • Document processes and deliver clear technical communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Train new staff and serve as a Salesforce and Marketing Cloud subject matter expert.
  • Provide support and training for additional systems such as Qualtrics (evaluations), Canvas (LMS), and Drupal (website CMS).

Other Responsibilities

  • Adhere to HKS IT protocols regarding supported platforms, data privacy, and security policies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.



Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3–5 years of Salesforce.com experience, including advanced knowledge of Marketing Cloud and Pardot.
  • Proven expertise in Salesforce deployments, sandbox management, and production releases.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable solutions based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Proficiency in creating flows, workflows, reports, and dashboards.
  • Familiarity with AppExchange packages and third-party integrations.
  • Working knowledge of Apex, SOQL, MS SQL, HTML, CSS, Python, or Java.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field preferred.
  • Experience in a technical role with responsibility for CRM and database tools.
  • Experience with Salesforce in an academic or executive education environment is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive data with discretion.
  • Stay current with new and emerging technologies, particularly within the Salesforce ecosystem and related enterprise platforms.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for systems, configurations, and processes.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred

Work Format Details

This is a position that is based at a Harvard campus location with some remote work options available. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
