
Shipping & Receiving Clerk - Off Shift
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Howmet’s Houston Extrusions Plant (77061) focuses on converting specialty metals into value added extrusions for the aerospace and defense industries. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for providing inventory support, inventory facilitation, coordination, organization, planning and other similar activities involved with the day-to-day shipping and receiving processes. The Shipping & Receiving Cleark is responsible for the accurate count of inbound and outbound material and support needed to complete work in progress to meet our customers’ shipping and receiving demands. This position will complete training on day shift and then be moved to a middle off shift, not overnight.
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all daily functions of the Shipping & Receiving department
Operate forklifts and side loaders on a daily basis.
Be able to work flexible hours for critical or end of month shipments.
Manage inventory of crates, pallets, or other shipping materials.
Ensures all incoming and outgoing materials are traceable, damage free and are handled in a safe manner to preserve the quality of the product
Contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring that finished material is shipped in a timely manner, free of damage, in accordance with (customer) release requirements.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining documented work instructions for safe and proper handling of incoming materials.
Responsible for verification of all incoming supply shipments to ensure correct delivery.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining documented work instructions for proper loading of trucks in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Responsible for ensuring, that departmental employees are properly trained to correctly process all shipping documents (Bill of Lading, Packing List, Shipping Letters of Intent, etc.)
Communicates daily with the Operations Manager and internal personnel from Sales, Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control in order to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals.
Maintains clean work area
Ensure work is in compliance with of all site safety policies
Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
basic qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years of Shipping & Receiving experience
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Ability to communicate effectively; both written and orally.
Strong PC skills; MS Office, Excel
Experience with SAP
Must be able to obtain an in-house mobile equipment certification, including use of forklift and boom lift
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
