The Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) department serves as the voice of and for American Express, with responsibility for Public Affairs & Media Relations, Colleague Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Social Media. Within CA&C, the Corporate Communications team handles communications for American Express’ business strategy and financial performance, brand and reputation, digital innovation, social media communications and the company’s external corporate content strategy.

We are looking for a dynamic, strategic, and creative content strategist to join the owned content team within the Corporate Affairs & Communications organization as Producer Social Media – Americas. This role will ideate and create organic social media content, spanning consumer products and experiences in Travel, Dining and Entertainment. This role will be a hands-on creator, generating compelling and high-quality content that resonates with our target audience. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creative flair, and an in-depth understanding of the ever-evolving social media landscape. The strategist will partner closely with internal stakeholders and partners to bring the American Express brand to life across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute robust social media content that increases brand awareness and engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices, tools, and algorithms.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, mentions, and conversations
  • Produce a wide range of content, including but not limited to:
    • Graphics and short-form videos (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
    • Engaging captions and copy
    • Stories, polls, and interactive content
    • Plan, shoot, and edit original photo and video content.
    • Ensure all content is on-brand, visually appealing, and optimized for each specific platform.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Strategist and Content Creator or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated on-camera experience, including interviews and unscripted content.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of social-first content across platforms.
  • Proficiency with content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software such as CapCut or Premiere Pro).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms, their algorithms, and best practices.
  • Ability to plan, shoot, and edit original photo and video content.
  • Highly organized self-starter, able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Creative thinker able to pitch quick-turn content ideas within Travel, Dining, and Entertainment verticals.
  • Strong cultural awareness, including knowledge of Gen Z interests, online culture, and emerging social trends.
  • Proven ability to produce engaging formats such as Reels, TikToks, Shorts, stories, polls, and interactive content.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using social media analytics tools to drive strategy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of what makes content shareable and engaging.

Salary Range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 annually + bonus + benefits
