McLane is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our technology team. This role is ideal for a software engineer with strong Oracle PL/SQL development experience and a solid understanding of supply chain, warehouse management, and inventory control systems. The successful candidate will develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications that drive critical distribution and logistics operations while collaborating with cross-functional business and technology teams.

Experience supporting cigarette distribution systems, including tax stamp accounting processes, is highly desirable. Exposure to Oracle APEX and Order Management Systems (OMS) will help provide broader support across the application portfolio.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL applications and database solutions.
  • Support warehouse management, inventory control, and supply chain systems to ensure operational efficiency and business continuity.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, database, and system performance issues.
  • Develop and optimize stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, and SQL queries.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to implement enhancements and system improvements.
  • Support integrations between warehouse, inventory, order management, and enterprise systems.
  • Assist with production support activities, issue resolution, root cause analysis, and system monitoring.
  • Participate in software testing, deployment activities, and documentation efforts.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience developing applications using Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory control processes.
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting cigarette distribution systems and tax stamp accounting processes.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle APEX development.
  • Experience with Order Management Systems (OMS).
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale distribution, logistics, or wholesale environments.
