
Specialist - Office of Talent Strategy
Job Summary
The Specialist for the Office of Talent Strategy (OTS) supports the administration, development, and coordination of office programs and events while providing essential, in-person support to department administrators. Reporting to the Supervisor of the Accelerated Training Centers (ATC), this role plays a key part in fostering a culture that prioritizes student success within workforce development programming.Accelerated Training Center Support
- Provides on-site administrative support to ATC operations and preparation for upcoming and ongoing training programs, meetings, and events.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting in the Center’s space and inventory scheduling requests; organizing supplies and inventory and informing supervisor of supplies that are running low in a manner that allows time for quick reorder before supplies are depleted; requesting laptop carts, access codes, and other technology support for class needs; ordering student workbooks and print materials from the Columbus State Print Shop; assisting with room and resource access, class set-up, and technology support as needed; and providing general administrative support to the team.
Program Support
- Provides comprehensive administrative support to enhance student success, departmental programs, and employer relations.
- Responsibilities include: Assisting with data collection, data entry, data organization, and data report requests in support of departmental initiatives; supporting the planning and execution of events, programs, advertising, and recruitment activities; checking, charging, and updating technology and supporting class materials and tracking sheets regularly to ensure availability for students; informing appropriate person(s) of missing, broken, or materials or technology that is not working properly in a timely manner in support of getting any problems rectified; updating departmental calendars and calendar invitations for timely program organization and scheduling; and providing general administrative support to ensure smooth operations and planning daily schedule and breaks in support those operations.
Customer Service
- Provides high-quality customer service, while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for students.
- Assists students in navigating the center and completing interest forms.
- Responsibilities include: greeting and assisting students and other individuals as they arrive, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported; recognizing and distinguishing between existing students and walk-in customers who need help; helping students navigate the Center and directing them to appropriate resources; supporting students in completing interest forms and providing general guidance on available programs; assisting in responding to student inquiries in-person, by phone, and electronically in a manner and language that is most accessible to the individual, using interpreting devices where available; offering clear explanations and guidance on State, College, and department requirements and processes.
- Provides a positive and efficient experience for prospective and existing students by addressing their program requests promptly, patiently, and in a manner that addresses the needs expressed.
Data & Reporting
- Responsible for using technology and systems to track and report program results with ongoing data and inventory management to document student progress and allocation of resources.
- Maintains confidentiality and secured storage of student records and other sensitive information.
- Keeps accurate records of student and program details, as requested and in the designated electronic and/or physical spaces.
- Completes and maintains required documentation, including enrollment material, evaluation, test results, attendance, technology usage, and status reports.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- One (1) year of experience working in an office setting. Experience working with diverse socioeconomic groups and adult learning groups.
Additional Information
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
