
Squad Leader - Health & Welfare Benefits Administration
Job Description:
As a Health & Welfare (H&W) Benefits Administration Squad Leader, you blend benefits administration knowledge/experience, leadership, and product development experience with a passion for creating customer value and delivering results. As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the scrum team mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities – specifically, delivering solutions that drive value to existing benefits administration clients and the operations and servicing teams that support them.
In a hybrid agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute on specific product features and ensure respective products or services are available, stable, performant and supported when required and related cost and maintenance is managed. You will ensure alignment on the what and when work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will coordinate end-to-end work across squads, and enable them to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.
- Providing leadership for and direction to squads that are focused on driving value to existing clients and client servicing teams. The areas of focus are broad, including but not limited to:
- Benefits administration recordkeeping and financial accounting capability improvements
- Implementation of end-to-end capabilities in support of evolving industry trends and regulations
- Partnering with other squads to deliver improvements in the participant and sponsor digital experience
- Defining, refining, and communicating the product area roadmap to motivate and build team and partner support and alignment
- Making decisions that can impact business results with guidance from partners and leaders. Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of multiple squads
- Measuring performance against established objectives and metrics that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
- Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria. Engaging with stakeholders regularly to monitor and share progress.
- Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
- Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and others to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning
- Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
- Maintaining an understanding of client and market needs, preferences, and priorities
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Scrum Product Owner Certification (CSPO) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or similar designations are a plus
- 7+ years in product management, technology and/or business.
- At least 7 years’ in-depth experience in the Health & Welfare outsourced administration services business, including familiarity with voice of customer and regulatory environment, preferred
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
- Hands-on agile leadership experience.
- Jira and Jira Align experience preferred
- You take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
- You grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these
- You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress
- You are strong at driving planning, execution, and tracking progress across cross-functional teams
- You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams
- You continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
- You establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
