What you'll do as a Sr Data Security Engineer:
- Develop and maintain enterprise DLP tools across endpoints, networks, email, and cloud platforms to monitor, detect, and prevent unauthorized data movement or exfiltration.
- Create, tune, and optimize DLP rules, policies, and data classification schemes to align with business needs, compliance standards, and risk appetite.
- Continuously evaluate evolving data loss risks, threat vectors, and emerging DLP technologies to improve the security posture.
- Deploy and maintain encryption solutions for data at rest, in transit, and in use.
- Manage cryptographic key lifecycles, including generation, rotation, and revocation.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external encryption standards.
- Support the development and enforcement of data classification frameworks.
- Implement technical controls to enforce data handling procedures based on classification levels.
- Educate teams on secure data handling practices.
- Engineer controls to protect sensitive data in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Integrate native and third-party cloud security tools to monitor and secure data flows.
- Ensure cloud storage and services comply with data protection policies.
- Leverage AI/ML tools to enhance data protection, anomaly detection, and policy tuning.
- Collaborate on securing data used in AI models and protecting model integrity.
- Evaluate AI-driven solutions for data classification and risk scoring.
- Ensure data security controls align with regulatory requirements.
- Support audits and assessments by providing evidence of data protection measures.
- Maintain documentation of data security architecture and processes.
- Collaborate with SOC and IR teams to investigate data-related security incidents.
- Develop detection rules and use cases focused on data exfiltration and misuse.
- Contribute to post-incident analysis and improvements in data security controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you'll bring as a Sr Data Security Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Five or more years of experience in cybersecurity focused on data loss prevention, data protection, or information security engineering.
- Advanced understanding of DLP concepts, tools, and technologies (e.g., Symantec, Forcepoint, Microsoft Purview DLP, Digital Guardian, or McAfee/Trellix).
- Understanding of data classification, encryption, and endpoint security principles
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC, OSCP, CRISC) preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
