SUMMARY:

The Senior Integrated Marketing & Communications Specialist collaborates closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to plan and execute strategic marketing initiatives that advance the American Mathematical Society’s brand visibility, audience engagement, and membership growth. This role supports the operational oversight of marketing initiatives and collaborates cross-functionally with departments to ensure integrated marketing strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop integrated marketing plans that align with AMS’s strategic goals and revenue objectives.
  • Ensure campaigns are consistent across all channels (digital, print, social, email, events, etc.).
  • Align marketing strategies with audience insights, brand positioning, and organizational priorities.
  • Orchestrate messaging across platforms to ensure consistency.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables for multichannel campaigns.
  • Partner with internal departments (e.g., programs, membership, government relations, meetings, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) to promote initiatives.
  • Stay current on marketing best practices and emerging trends and integrate innovative techniques into AMS’s marketing strategies.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance using KPIs.
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Meetings and Conferences, Membership, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Programs and Professional Services, and Government Relations, to promote the Society’s brand.
    • Ensure all marketing materials adhere to brand standards.
    • Help evolve brand guidelines as needed in response to strategic shifts.

TRAVEL: 10-30%travel domestically (internationally on occasion)

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Internal: Report to Director of Communications and Marketing; work with staff in other departments to plan and implement communications strategies; cooperate with staff in other departments on relevant projects.
  • External: Work with relevant AMS committees and officers on marketing issues; communicate with AMS members and representatives of other organizations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing and communication strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in using data and metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and digital marketing tools.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector and/or membership organizations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions based on insights.
  • Ability to conceptualize surveys and make informed decisions based on the results.
  • Proficiency in marketing and membership management software and CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
