Senior Mainframe Engineer (COBOL, CICS, DB2)

The Role

Seeking a Senior Software Engineer with superb mainframe technical skills to develop, support and maintain high volume production platforms in the Money Movement and Asset transfer domain of Brokerage Platform Technology group. You will engage collaboratively with business and systems partners to deliver high quality and innovative software solutions. You are energized and hardworking to learn and grow with us in our digital transformation to build our future cloud platform capabilities to enable millions of Fidelity customers to meet their financial goals while delivering the outstanding customer experiences.
Join our team working in a fast-paced environment, closely partnering with product, architecture, and other engineering teams. We provide mentors to help navigate your role. We offer dedicated time each month to develop new skills and investigate new technologies. Many or the activities will align to production stability including incident coordination, change management, operations support, disaster recovery testing.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

10+ years of software development experience in business critical, enterprise-wide applications
Mainframe development expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM
Ability to perform detailed analysis for maintenance and improvement projects in the batch and online environments
Deploy and support software releases into production environments
Problem solving
Employ your data security skills to keep our customers information safe
You are detailed and thorough with unit, functional and regression testing
Proven Experience writing COBOL/Native stored procedures
Experience in Distributed Technologies (Nice to have/Willing to learn)
Experience of working in highly transactional, fault tolerant and data driven systems
Confidence to think and act strategically, share innovative insights, and offer creative solutions to deliver exceptional user experiences
Proven strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with effective written and verbal communication skills
Embrace flexibility and shift focus to meet the most pressing customer/client needs
Ability to identify areas of risk or potential problems and take action to mitigate them
You bring a growth mentality to work every day as you continue to learn new technologies and skills and seek to share that knowledge with your squad members

We are part of the Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology platform supporting Money Movement and Transfer of Asset products. Working together and with other squads, we deliver solutions to our customers by aligning the right skillsets to their most critical business priorities. The work is diverse, challenging, and provides for continuous learning and growth opportunities.
Fidelity’s hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Having the majority of our associates work onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture. We also value the benefits that working offsite offers associates. Most roles listed as Hybrid will require associates to work onsite all business days of every other week in a Fidelity office.
