About the Role
The U.S. Consumer Services and Membership Digital Experiences Technology team is at the forefront of driving American Express’ digital transformation. We bring together cutting-edge capabilities across digital experience engineering (web and mobile), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise platforms, and data governance.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Lead & Inspire: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning
- Drive Execution: Oversee project delivery, including resource planning, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Shape the Future: Partner with senior leaders to define and execute technology strategy and roadmaps
- Build & Deliver: Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of scalable, high-quality software solutions
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product, business, and cross-functional partners to deliver impactful solutions
- Innovate at Scale: Champion automation and modern engineering practices to improve efficiency and scalability
- Elevate Performance: Use metrics and feedback to continuously improve team effectiveness and software quality
- Attract & Develop Talent: Recruit top talent and create an environment where engineers thrive and grow
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams
- Strong background in application design, development, and testing
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Solid understanding of secure, scalable, and high-performance system design
- Experience working with distributed systems and relational databases
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders and influence technical strategy
- Strong foundational knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services
- Hands-on experience with GCP BigQuery, BigTable, Google Cloud Dataproc for large-scale data processing, and Cloud Composer (Airflow) for workflow orchestration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience building and testing modern applications
- Strong object-oriented design and architecture skills across platforms (Java, Python)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders
- Proven ability to define and deliver end-to-end technical solutions
- Passion for solving complex technical challenges and enabling team success
- Track record of contributing to multiple teams and driving broader organizational impact
- Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate project delivery

The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
Salary range
- $123,000 - $215,250 per year
