Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, push, or pull 25 pounds, stand for long periods of time, walk to various locations across campus in a timely manner in occasional extreme temperatures, and ascend and descend staircases.

Shift

7:30AM – 12AM, Sunday through Saturday to meet department needs. May have occasional overtime requirements.

Job Summary

The STEPS Smart Campus Community Coordinator is the connection to the many external partners and sponsors in the commonwealth that have and provide stake in the University of Kentucky’s Smart Campus initiatives.

This role blends creativity, coordination, and community insight to support and expand initiatives like the Student iPad Kit, Digital Signage, and UK Esports through external partners and the community. This Coordinator leads the planning and promotion of off-campus activations, K–12 summer camps, and collaborative events with external partners, while managing the development of digital content, social media campaigns, and Smart Campus website updates to amplify community engagement.

Working closely with external partners, the Community Coordinator also supports iPad integration efforts, hires and trains student workers, and organizes off-campus tabling and promotional activities to increase visibility and participation. Ideal candidates will bring a mix of organizational skill, communications savvy, and a passion for creating meaningful educational and social experiences that connect technology, creativity, and community.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The individual should have excellent communication, organization, and time management skills with the ability to follow department procedures/policies and to work independently. It is expected that the Community Coordinator will maintain a regular work schedule.
