- Previous coaching or teaching experience, particularly with youth or middle school students.
- Competitive archery experience or participation in an organized archery program.
- Experience with NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) or similar school-based archery programs.
- Experience developing practice plans and progressive skill-development programs.

Job Summary

You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.

The Lexington School is currently searching for an archery coach for their 4th-8th grade team!

This individual would be responsible for:
- Teaching and demonstrating proper archery form, technique, and safety procedures
- Properly and safely, inspect, maintain, and use archery equipment
- Other duties as necessary

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

REQUIRED Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
– Knowledge of archery fundamentals, including proper shooting technique, range safety, equipment use, and scoring.
- Ability to teach and demonstrate proper archery form, technique, and safety procedures to student-athletes of varying skill levels.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to archery range safety protocols and appropriate supervision of students.
- Ability to safely inspect, maintain, and properly use archery equipment, including bows, arrows, targets, and related gear.
- Ability to develop and lead organized, age-appropriate practices that promote skill development and teamwork.
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and provide constructive, encouraging feedback to athletes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, coaches, and school staff.
- Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
- Ability to manage student-athletes effectively and maintain appropriate discipline and expectations.
- Ability to remain calm, attentive, and safety-conscious in a range setting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage practices, competitions, equipment, and team logistics.
- Ability to motivate and encourage student-athletes while emphasizing sportsmanship, responsibility, and personal growth.
- Commitment to supporting the school’s athletics program and representing the school in a professional manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, other coaches, and school personnel.
- Ability to attend scheduled practices, competitions, meetings, and other team-related activities.

PREFERRED Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge of archery scoring, tournament procedures, and competition formats.
- Familiarity with a variety of archery equipment and basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- A passion for archery and a desire to introduce students to the sport in a positive and encouraging environment.
- Willingness to pursue additional archery coaching or safety certifications as appropriate.
