The Student Engagement Coordinator (SEC) provides leadership and administrative management to a comprehensive and vibrant student engagement program that complements and supports the mission of Williamson College of the Trades. A top priority for the position is to build a student engagement program that honors diversity, access, and fun for all Williamson’s students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Functions

Given the breadth of responsibilities, the SEC reports directly to the Assistant Chaplain, although it has secondary support responsibilities to the college’s Athletic Director. The SEC is responsible with the planning and implementation of student engagement activities, to include assisting the office of the chaplaincy with student spiritual development. Specific responsibilities are outlined below. Please note the specific responsibilities in direct support of the Athletic Director are designated as “(AD)”.

  • Lead and cultivate a vibrant student engagement program through collaboration with faculty, staff, and students that positively contributes to student success, retention, campus climate, and the college’s mission.
  • Lead the college’s student activity program including, but not limited to, supporting individual faculty/staff club mentors, budgetary and logistical management of approved club organizations, implementing the student activities fair, working alongside the office of the chaplaincy in organizing select student weekend activities, and lastly oversight of the annual student Homecoming competition.
  • (AD) Manage the college’s student intramural athletic program, to include organizing, equipping, and scheduling safe and productive athletic events.
  • (AD) In coordination with the Athletic Director, assist in the facility management and scheduling of the Wesley Student Center.
  • In coordination with the office of the chaplaincy, manage the college’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) program, to include serving as a FCA Huddle leader.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of key Lenfest Leadership program events such as First Year Experience (FYE), the Junior Leadership Expedition (JLE), and the Senior Capstone.

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities Required)

  • Associate degree or higher in student personnel, higher education administration, ministry, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant, progressive experience in student activities preferred.
  • A commitment to student faith education and development.
  • Ability to carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments and implement effective courses of action independently.
  • Strong organizational, creative, and innovative capabilities and the ability to successfully implement new initiatives and maximize available resources.
  • A commitment to collaborating with faculty, staff, alumni, students, and community partners in the holistic education of students.
  • Proficient in the use of technology, software (Microsoft Office Suite), the internet and web-based forms.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with experience presenting to large audiences.

Working Conditions

Generally, in both outdoor and indoor settings depending on the nature of the specific student activity.
