Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
Lexington Parks and Recreation is looking for a Lifeguard Instructor for the summer 2026 aquatic season. Responsibilities include Provide a safe and encouraging learning environment for both youth and adult participants. Communicate efficiently and effectively with all participants, parents/guardians, staff, property representatives, and Co-instructors. Use corrective feedback to evaluate participants’ progress and correct problems. Prepare lesson plans for each class session ahead of time. This includes reading the lessons before class and being prepared to answer any questions. (Courses will follow the approved program guidelines and requirements). Responsible for the knowledge and understanding of the policies, procedures, and Instructor responsibilities. Maintain assigned training equipment and ensure proper supplies before instruction begins. Serve as in-service trainer to pool(s) you are assigned to.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Possession of a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or be able to achieve this before start date. Certification opportunities provided and paid for.
