Job Summary

You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.

The Lexington Parks and Recreation Department hosts a variety of outdoor special events throughout the season, varying in size, type, and location. Seasonal Special Event Staff supports these events in multiple capacities, including, but not limited to:

-Acting as parking attendants and assisting with crowd control
-Setting up and breaking down event supplies and equipment
-Lifting and loading event materials up to 50 lbs.
-Providing excellent customer service and serving as positive representatives of the department
-Performing other duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of events

This is a seasonal, temporary, part-time position with hours that vary based on the event schedule, including many evenings and weekends from May through October. Staff may choose from a list of available events.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

REQUIRED Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
-Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
-Strong communication skills, both verbal and interpersonal
-Dependable and punctual with a professional attitude
-Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and loading materials up to 50 lbs.
-Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions

PREFERRED Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
-Previous experience in event management or customer service
-Experience with parking or crowd control
-Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
-Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
-Positive and approachable demeanor when interacting with the public
