The Role

The Systems Engineer will perform Engineering and Systems Operational support for Business Unit aligned functions including Application Support, Cloud Enablement, Environment Management, Digital Tier & Web Operations, Platform Engineering and Basic DMZ Network Operations. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you will evolve and sustain an innovative agile culture.

Team

Fidelity’s Systems Engineers work with our Application Development & Cloud Platform teams to deliver reliable runtimes for Fidelity’s business critical workloads. The team comes from varied technical backgrounds, and the responsibilities that support opportunity for a variety of challenges require engineers to work on software and systems in highly distributed multi-tiered platforms.

The Expertise You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required, Masters’ degree a plus.
  • 7-8+ years of hands-on experience deploying and/or supporting highly distributed multi-tiered systems at scale.
  • Highly experienced managing technology environment stability and availability.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and principles.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies, delivery projects, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of basic networking (ping, traceroute, DNS)
  • Hands on experience with search and analytics engines (Splunk, DataDog…)
  • Hands on experience with Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with workflow design, data analysis, and requirements identification/specification
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies including SaaS solutions in the cloud and AWS/AZURE
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration, preferably with Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and associated technologies
  • Experience with PowerShell and Python scripting
  • Production support experience with financial systems
  • Demonstrated creative and abstract thinking.
  • Ability to triage, complete root cause analysis, and be decisive under pressure.
  • Experience of docker, cloud-computing / cloud services platforms (e.g., AWS or Azure)
  • AWS Certification a plus
