Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a SystemsResearch Engineer to work on our National Security Solutions team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.

You will Design, develop, test, and verify complex electrical, mechanical and/or software systems and components. Analyze engineeringplansandprojectstoestablishoperatingdataandconductexperimentaltests.Analyzeproposalsandrelated technical data to develop design alternatives. Identify opportunities for integration of technologies and techniques to advance technical capabilities to develop new, unique cutting-edge solutions. Interface with other organizations to communicatedesignspecificationsandaddressdesignandintegrationissues.Workmayencompassawiderangeof sophisticated (cross-discipline) engineering problem resolutions. You will report to the manager for our National Security Solutions team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Apply Systems Engineering principles and techniques to pursue research opportunities associated with integrationoftechnologiestoadvancetechnicalcapabilitiestodevelopnew,unique,cutting-edgesolutions.
  • Develop,implement,andintegratetheselectedalternativethroughouttheproject/systemlifecycle.Thisincludes systems and organizational integration, road mapping, requirements verification, and testing.
  • Developandimplementanappropriategradedsystemsapproachandprocessestomeetprogramandcustomer needs. Must have working knowledge of software tools and/or the skills to build tools to accomplish systems engineering tasks.
  • Identifythefullrangeofviablesystemsanddecision-makingalternativestoaddressthechallengeorproblem.
  • Developsystemsmodelsanddecision-makingtoolstohelpthecustomermakeinformed,efficient,effective,and defensible solutions decision relative to the problem or challenge being addressed.
  • Validate and oversee the analyses and development of briefing materials, reports, and other documentation. Participateinthepreparationofprogrammaterialspresentedtocustomersandinrespondingtotheirquestions and requests for information.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with DOE orders; Federal, State, and Local regulations; WFO'srequirements;andestablishedBEApolicies,specificallyallES&Handethicalpoliciesandprocedures.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 2: Baccalaureate Degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering,industrialengineering,chemicalengineering, oracloselyrelatedfieldfromanABET-accredited institution and at least 2 years of direct professional experience.
  • Level 3: Baccalaureate Degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering,industrialengineering,chemicalengineering, oracloselyrelatedfieldfromanABET-accredited institution and at least 5 years of direct professional experience.
  • Minimum of 850 hours flight hours on General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper platform.
  • Demonstrated work experience with NSA cryptology/encryption.
  • Demonstrated work experience with secure command and control datalinks and radio communications for combat aircraft.
  • Functional experience with General Dynamics Taclane network encryptors.
  • Security+ Certification
  • This position requires a current Department of Energy (DOE) "Q" and "SCI" clearance or equivalent, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Advanceddegreeinsystemsengineering,electricalengineering,mechanicalengineering,manufacturing engineering,industrialengineering,chemicalengineering, oracloselyrelatedfieldfromanABET-accredited institution.


Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($77,628 - $159,228) / Level 3 ($93,204 - $191,076). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handlematerials,manipulatetools,and reach with hands and arms.Thejob requiresthe operation of job-relatedequipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds without assistance.
