The Role

As a Software Engineering Chapter Leader in the Wealth Solutions Engineering chapter, you will directly supervise a team of software developers and systems analysts chapter members, who will be embedded in squads (software delivery teams) and report into you. You will help them grow and develop in their area of expertise and ensure alignment on the 'how' of the work they perform in squads.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

  • 10+ years of software development and engineering experience.

  • Track record of mentoring, coaching and developing people and teams.

  • We build Front-end (Web/Mobile) and API based solutions with JavaScript / TypeScript stack including frameworks like Angular and NodeJS. Familiarity with front-end experience development and related methodologies is desired.

  • Good understanding of cloud-computing and public cloud platforms like AWS.

  • Passionate about engineering excellence, DevOps maturity and test driven development.

  • Proven leadership through empowerment of individuals/teams, innovation, collaboration and must be someone who’s eager to learn and teach every day.

  • Bring a data driven & collaborative approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Developing & maintaining industry-leading software engineering chapter expertise and talent to support the squads & broader product-area with the right level of knowledge and skills.

  • Supervising the performance of chapter members, sharing feedback, coaching, career path guidance and hiring new talent to meet squad and product-area goals.

  • Sharing knowledge and expertise within and outside of the chapter - ensuring how the work is performed by chapter members is aligned with established road maps and guardrails.

  • Champion good engineering practices and establish new standards as and when needed.

  • Collaborate with Architecture chapter and influence consistent, robust and resilient design and architecture implementations across the enterprise.

  • Create and maintain a work culture based on Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors.

  • Be a joint and trusted partner with product area leaders to lay out strategy and vision for business success.

The Wealth Solutions Engineering (WSE) chapter area provides engineering know-how, talent, and standards in many areas of the Fidelity Wealth business unit, including digital planning & advice, investment products, managed solutions, life insurance, retirement & income planning, and large-scale platform development & operation. Within Fidelity Wealth, you and your engineering team will directly support the Fidelity Insurance Agency (FIA) Experience group, which owns the digital experiences used by our customers and advisors for researching, purchasing and managing annuity and insurance products. As a leader on our WSE team, you will have a direct and positive impact on Fidelity’s customers.
