A strong, independent community bank, North State has served customers for 25 years and counting. Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, with offices in Wake and New Hanover counties, the Bank was built on and practices the core values of integrity, hard work, fairness, teamwork, and consistency. We believe it’s our calling to add value to the lives of those we serve and to do so with a spirit of friendship. We are a full-service bank with focused divisions for mortgage, government lending, and the community association management industry.

North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a Teller located in our North Hills Office.

At North State Bank, our Tellers are more than transaction processors—they’re trusted partners in our customers’ financial journeys. If you enjoy helping people, solving problems, and working in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment, this could be the role for you.

Your Morning

You start your day by greeting coworkers and preparing your workspace. After balancing your cash drawer and reviewing any updates or alerts, you’re ready to welcome your first customer with a smile. Whether it’s a deposit, loan payment, or check cashing, you handle each transaction with precision and care—making sure everything is accurate, compliant, and efficient.

Midday: Where Relationships Matter

As the lobby fills, you switch seamlessly between tasks:

  • Helping customers in person, over the phone, or by email
  • Answering questions about accounts, online banking access, and bank products
  • Issuing official checks, debit cards, or gift cards
  • Processing night depository and courier deposits

You’re always alert—watching for potential fraud, placing appropriate holds, and ensuring documentation is completed correctly. You also keep an eye out for opportunities to refer customers to additional products or services that may benefit them.

Behind the Scenes

Between customers, you scan teller work for overnight posting, complete required logs and reports, and help research or resolve any account discrepancies. You may assist with balancing or replenishing the ATM or support safe deposit box access, all while following bank policy and compliance standards.

Growing Together

No two days are exactly alike, and learning never stops. You participate in team meetings and training sessions focused on product knowledge, relationship building, and regulatory updates. When needed, you step in to support Lead Teller duties—demonstrating teamwork and reliability.

At the end of the day, you balance your drawer, knowing you’ve helped customers feel confident, supported, and valued.

What You’ll Bring

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of customer service and cash-handling experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
  • Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online systems

The Work Environment

This role is based in a professional banking environment with moderate noise levels. The position involves standing, sitting, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 10 pounds). Reasonable accommodations are available.

Why North State Bank?

We believe in building strong relationships—with our customers and with each other. You’ll be part of a supportive team that values integrity, growth, and exceptional service.
