SUMMARY:
Acts as a key liaison between Texas New Mexico Power Co, ERCOT, Retail Providers and BTS. Responsible for managing process improvement efforts within the Retail Electric Provider (REP) Liaison department and providing feedback to team members and management. Coordinates all testing and change initiatives with BTS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes business requirements for impact to applications, architecture and transaction processing; identifies business process solutions and best implementation approach
Acts as key liaison with BTS to review process designs, review change initiatives and coordinate requirement documentation, testing and implementation of business process improvements and enhancements
Serves as the SME for critical system applications that support business process processing
Liaises with TNMP vendors (notably Itron) to ensure ongoing integration support is optimized for transaction processing and business operational changes
Participates in ERCOT working groups and stays current on new and changing requirements
Maintains and monitors the quality of application documentation repository (e.g. department manuals, process procedures, training material)
Participates in the annual REP Workshop
Trains team members in business process improvement concepts; facilitates and implements resolution of basic business process issues
Communicates with team and management regarding change management
COMPETENCIES:
Extensive knowledge relating to deregulated market, transaction protocols and ERCOT
In-depth knowledge of TNMP policies, procedures and tariff
Ability to recognize and initiate tasks without direction
Ability to apply analytical skills, use judgment and make decisions on problems and issues
Ability to understand and assimilate complex technical information
Ability to efficiently and effectively coordinate process improvements and projects
In-depth business knowledge of the technologies and processes used by the department
Ability to determine root cause of problems independent of how the task is accomplished including, but not limited to process procedures and defects
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, with five to seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groups
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to communicate professionally and accurately
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
DECISION MAKING:
Ability to identify process improvements and develop a plan to implement. Ability to correct deviations for personal and team activities. Extensive independent judgment must be exercised to meet functional responsibilities, while maintaining continuing, positive and mutually supportive work relationships. Ability to develop original and creative interpersonal and analytical solutions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit up to 2/3 of the time and to stand, walk, and stoop up to 1/3 of the time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to travel within and outside company service areas. Ability to periodically work weekends and evenings.
