Shift

This is a 20 hour per week position. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Must be able to begin work in May 2026.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include coordinating arrangements for the annual College Business Management Institute (CBMI), a conference to be held July 26-31, 2026, at the University of Kentucky. Hundreds of business officers and administrators from colleges and universities across the United States attend this week-long conference every summer. CBMI faculty include university presidents, top-level administrators and other experts in a variety of fields.

Duties include assisting with the following:

· Planning various catered events (menu selection, room set-up, etc.)

· Handling speaker arrangements (travel, hotel, conference materials, etc.)

· Writing, editing and producing marketing materials

· Coordinating A/V, room set-up, and other meeting room logistics

· Serving as a liaison with vendors, caterers and other suppliers

· Management of on-site conference activities

Additional responsibilities may include assisting University Events with processing, managing, and approving registered student organization and UK department/college wide events through the Event Management System (EMS) software.

The ideal candidate would be able to commit to working as a Graduate Assistant for 1 year.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Skills required:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

- Knowledgeable in event planning and event management

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

- Excellent time management skills

- Creative problem solving

- Flexible and willing to take initiative

The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning and/or event management.
