The physical requirements for this position include standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Shift
The shift is primarily Monday-Friday days, with occasional night and weekend requirements and required on-call hours.
Job Summary
Serves as a central point of clinical expertise for the Ventricular Assist Device program and is responsible for managing all inpatient and outpatient VAD patients across the continuum of care. Works independently to ensure quality patient care in assigned areas; ensures quality improvement activities are in place; evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and support services; facilitates pre-operative implant work-up and ensures all records are available for review; ensures family/patient training is occurring daily; makes daily rounds on all in-patient VAD patients; facilitates outpatient clinic visits; determines environmental need of patients; establishes clinical standards, policies and procedures.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess clinical nursing experience with Cardiac Care and VAD/ECMO experience; have direct patient care experience; have the ability manage multiple activities and timelines; have an excellent medical terminology background; be well organized; exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); enjoy working independently as well as closely with their co-workers in a supportive team environment; computer skills (to include Microsoft Office); strong customer service skills; excellent active listening skills; posse high attention to detail; and be dependable.

Preferred Education/Experience
BSN with VAD/ECMO and CCU/CT ICU experience preferred. CCRN preferred.
