Responsibilities
- Conducts contractor field safety and environmental observations across Safety Tier 1 High Risk, Tier 1, and Tier 2 partners, enforcing Life Saving Compliance Tree Trimming COAs and all standard, site specific, and regulatory environmental requirements, while providing ongoing feedback on contractor performance.
- Facilitates field calibrations and tailboards with contractors to communicate SCE expectations, align on evolving priorities related to wildfire risk reduction and customer service, and identify trends or quality gaps requiring corrective action.
- Performs Post Work Verification (PWV) for pre inspection, tree trimming, structure brushing, and weed abatement work, identifying deficiencies and assigning rework as needed; maintains required Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) to perform field and verbal validations.
- Conducts quality assurance/quality control reviews and detailed field validations, including cycle buster inspections, supplemental patrols (e.g., Operation Santa Ana), and CanopySense model validations, identifying fast growing vegetation and areas requiring maintenance prior to the next cycle.
- Reviews and validates field collected data (e.g., species, growth characteristics), providing detailed feedback to remote sensing teams to improve model accuracy and support data driven vegetation management decisions.
- Investigates tree related outages to determine root cause, documenting and communicating findings to first line supervision using standardized templates and reporting tools.
- Serves as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for utility vegetation management programs, regulations, and practices, supporting internal and external stakeholders, public meetings, and customer outreach, education, complaint resolution, and claims support.
- Reviews contractor safety documentation, work progress, scope change requests (including large diameter removals), and billing/invoice records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with contract requirements.
- Supports planning and execution by identifying contract resource needs, partnering with Resource Planning and Performance Management (RPPM) to ensure adherence to planned and emergent schedules, supporting district work order assignments, and resolving vegetation constraints for Hazard Tree Management Program (HTMP), Dead and Dying Program (DDP), and Transmission & Distribution construction activities. Collaborates with Environmental teams to review and resolve environmental holds efficiently, ensuring timely compliance with regulatory and site specific requirements while minimizing impacts to work execution.
- Provides technical guidance and operational support to contractors and supports the development, evaluation, and implementation of new vegetation management and line clearance methods aligned with regulatory standards and SCE strategic objectives.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in vegetation management.
- Certification as an ISA Certified Arborist.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
- ISA Utility Specialist certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, arboriculture, or business.
- Effective communication skills and customer service.
- Knowledge of CPUC GO 95 Rule 35, PRC 4292 & 4293 and environmental habitat areas.
- Knowledge of NERC/WECC/ISO regulations.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- As of September 2, 2025, this position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 (IBEW). The company and the union are currently working toward a collective bargaining agreement. Salary range
- $99,400 - $149,100 per year
