How will you make an impact in this role?
This Vice President role is an amazing opportunity to lead a group of high-performing colleagues responsible to develop and execute in-depth data analytics, machine learning modelling and visualizations to support of Enterprise insights. This position sits on the Finance Data Science & Analytics (DS&A) Leadership Team and will be pivotal in helping progress on our AI transformation roadmap.
This position affords the opportunity to influence how strategic decisions are made at senior levels of American Express, providing actionable insights and recommendations. This is a hybrid role based at the Amex Tower in New York City.
Responsibilities:
·Develop and / or enhance machine learning modelling techniques to forecast and analyze spend, lend and other metrics which sit within the team’s purview
·Progress on team’s AI transformation roadmap
·Create, maintain and improve critical spend dashboards including all required data access / controls
·Maintain and enrich infrastructure to improve data quality, reporting tools, and other operational efficiencies for dashboards and other data analysis / modelling processes
·Ensure robust data governance and sound model governance practices, including on-going model monitoring and other associated activities [e.g., hyperparameter tunning, model interpretability and robust documentation], collaborating with 2nd Line / MRMG and 3rd Line / IAG on all requirements
·Play the role of strategic advisors as the expert on spend trends, converging data [e.g., multivariate analyses] to parse weak signals and get ahead of inflection points
·Propose and implement solutions to ad-hoc business problems, working independently to leverage data and drive novel insights
·Continue evolution from execution-oriented to an insight-enabled operating model while investing time to increase business acumen across all colleagues
·Attract and retain top talent while elevating the performance of our highly specialized team of data scientists, in line with our overall talent strategy
Qualifications:
·Solid understanding of card economics and overall AXP business model
·Ability to lead a team in driving multiple initiatives concurrently while adhering to strict deadlines
·Comfort thriving in whitespace, where there is an obligation to continually drive new ideas independently
·Proficiency in dealing with large quantities of complex data and ability to derive actionable insights from those data
·Demonstrated experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences, bridging the gap between academic outputs and real-world applications
·Proven track record in the data science domain and / or experience developing and implementing complex [e.g., machine learning / AI] models
·Experience in leading highly analytical teams and demonstrated ability to elevate talent and drive continuous learning
·Prior experience or exposure to Power BI or other visualization tools [e.g., development, implementation, maintenance] strongly preferred
·B.S. / M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field [e.g., Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science] strongly preferred
·Ability to deepen trust-based relationships across a variety of stakeholders and levels across the Enterprise and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
